Paola Zeppi
Big black eyes, curious and inquiring, drops that pierce stones.
The belief that fear is useful when it turns into energy.
The certainty that love is the antidote; the only way.
She burns.
Paola Zeppi is a tenacious pursuer of autonomy and freedom, channelled through paint. Her works speak of her to her; they tell the stories she does not want to hear. They name the daemons that she did not have the courage to scream. The mirror her way, in every case a painful discovery on her journey to liberation.
For this reason she defines herself as ‘solitary’, finding it to be the sublime conduit to truth and beauty . Like Louise Bourgeois, she is unable to contain a defined current. And this amazes her, excites her, drives her; the wonder of offering even the most disparate observer a glimpse of themselves, through a signpost she has placed in time.
After all, we are all our own customers, and each of us must feel free to get lost, be found and ignite each other as many times as we choose, for as long as we can.
To burn so brightly that people can't help but be attracted to, and believe in, our light.
Amen.
